As a result of the research on agricultural practices in the Taï region it was recommended to establish demonstration plots showing different agricultural methods to local farmers. It was anticipated that these plots would contribute to more permanent forms of agriculture, thus reducing the human pressure on the Taï National Park (TNP). As follow-up to this project, four demonstration plots of better maize and rice varieties have been installed in the peripheral zone of the TNP. Since most of the results on agricultural research executed in southwest Côte d'Ivoire have been published in English the document is deliberately published in French, thus making the results of the study more easily applicable by Ivorian scientists. The document gives insight into the traditional and intensified agricultural methods, discusses agricultural options for the region and elaborated on the establishment of demonstration plots.
