Humberto is the thematic lead on Participatory Forest and Landscape Restoration and programme coordinator Fire-smart landscape governance at Tropenbos International. With his vast experience in environmental management and international cooperation, Humberto plays a key role in driving impactful, sustainable solutions within the organization.
Humberto has served as a university lecturer and thesis advisor for multiple students. His scholarly contributions include over 40 publications, including peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and edited volumes. He has collaborated extensively with international organizations such as FAO, IFAD, and UNCTAD, and has participated in numerous sessions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
In recent years, Humberto worked with the Bolivian Institute of Forest Research, coordinating the Global Landscape Action (GLA) program in Bolivia, and served as the country representative for the Belgian NGO BOS+.
Beyond his professional dedication to nature conservation, Humberto is also a professional chef, bringing creativity and passion to everything he does.
